Zune MP3 player
The Zune MP3 player is a new device from Microsoft.The Zune is very much targeted at the hugely successful iPod music player, from arch rival Apple.
Announced in July 2006, the player is expected to be in the shops by Christmas the same year.
One of the key advantages is believed to be the integration with Windows and Media Player, which in turn will allow users to purchase music directly from Microsoft, in a similar fashion to iTunes and the iPod.
Analysts remain sceptical about the success of the device, as a number of other companies, such as Creative and Philips have failed to dislodge the iPod.
This is the second major foray for Microsoft into the consumer electronics markets, the first being the X-Box, which had minor success against the dominant Sony Playstation.
